ok so i went for a job interview friday in Freehold for this company called Utiliquest. I was there for 2 fucking hours taking TESTS! they were such bullshit too. the first part was math problems, like 60 of em, and i had 5 min to do as many as i could. i think i did like 14 of them. 2nd part was reading and comprehension...like reading the passage and then choosing the best answer that was there, but of course they all seemed right. i had 10 minutes to do that and i did 10 out of the 15 questions. third part of the test was problem solving. basically they had a chart and scenarios and i had to tally up points for the scenarios and based on the amount of points the scenario got, it determined my answers. i had 10 minutes to do that and i did 16 out of the 24 questions. the fourth part of the test was some bullshit where i had to look at something like "1343c32" and "1343c32" and determine if they were the same or different. i had 3 minutes to do as many as i could. i think i did like 22 of them. and that concludes the first half of the test, which i proudly passed. werd.
the next thing i had to do was answer 195 questions either agreeing or disagreeing with what they asked. it was kind of a mental thing to see how i thought about shit. for instance "do you like to work with your hands", "have you watched tv, rode a bike, or listened to music in the past year"....etc. i had 30 minutes to do it and i finished that shit in like 20. after the guy reviewed my answers he told me i failed to qualify to the companies standards for that test, but he still wanted me to talk to the supervisor. so he had me sign a release form for my background check and said it would take 3-5 days. he's gonna call me when it gets in and then set my appointment up with the Supervisor in which i will fill out more paperwork and then hopefully be setup for the drug test and get my ass in this company.
ok so onto the GOOD SHIT of this job.
position i will be working as is a Markout guy. basically this company is the largest Utility locating company in the united states. they have sub contractors that call them up and need a markout guy to mark the spots where they can dig. thats where im gonna come into play as the markout guy. i just gotta be very very very accurate cuz if i mark shit wrong, people can get killed. i'll learn how to do it all in training if i get this job.
things i get:
company chevy s-10 pickup truck with a 5spd manual transmission. all gas and maintenance is paid by the company. i get to bring the truck home as well.
nextel cell phone/walkie talkie thingie.
starting pay is $11.70
laptop
thousands of dollars worth of equipment to do the markouts.
it includes benefits after 90 days. blue cross/blue shield which includes dental, eye, and health insurance.
after 1 year i'll get a review and a raise depending on how good my review is.
after a year my vacation time starts and 401k plan starts as well.
oh yea....for 1 week every month i will be on call for 24hrs a day.
the area in which they are looking to hire is Union County, im souped about that. i also have the opportunity to move up in the company the longer i stay there. this is like a definite long term job i want to keep. it means i have to stop partying and smoking like i do though, but hey that was gonna happen one day and it happens to be now. that shit will always be there, this job opportunity won't.
and that would be all. i'll update more on this after i go for my interview with the Supervisor.
